Tidewater Associates Incorporated is a local Eastern North Carolina firm offering services in development consulting, land planning, land surveying and general civil engineering. Our company was initially founded by L. T. Mercer as a small surveying firm in 1957. Mr. Mercer incorporated the firm as Tidewater Associates, Inc., in 1961 as a general corporation and began offering both engineering and surveying services to Eastern North Carolina.

In 1972, James E. Stewart became full owner and changed the name to James E. Stewart and Associates, Inc. John W. Parker joined the firm in 1973, and obtained full ownership of the corporation in 1992 and changed the name of the company in April 1993.

Jason Houston and Jonathan McDaniel obtained ownership in 2015, and are committed to providing the same level of service and expertise that has existed over our many years in business.

In 2018, Bell and Phillips became a satellite office for the business in nearby Carteret County. The business addition was acquired from Alan Bell and Pate Phillips who have provided quality land surveying services for over 30 years. Having this second location allows us to better serve our growing clientele beyond Onslow County.
